Day 2: Fürstenberg – Neustrelitz, 19th of June 2011

The second day of our trip started with a nice breakfast and the first find of the day being Stellwerk Fürstenberg/Havel (GC27QJ5), in the bright daylight an easy find. Our route then took us to our first unknown cache of the tour, Stechlin (GCPNGH). The solution for this one already rested in our pockets and after some searching we managed to retrieve the little box.

After a strange encounter with a Polo driver who seemed convinced that his car was in fact a bicycle, we got on the way to our next target, Rast & Ruh 6 (GC2RJ7W). This one was an easy find, the thing that confused us a bit was that we found two containers, but that seemed to have been intentional.

From here it was only a few meters to our next two finds, Eikboom (GC29VYX) and Gotteshäuser: Kirche Wustrow (GC13VNJ). Two easy finds with nothing special about them.

Our next goal, Unterm Himmelszelt(GC2AFMB), was the second mystery cache on our tour. As it turned out, the name fits well to the cache, but is a bit misleading at the same time. For the time being, this one will have a place on my favorites list. I am just wondering if the place is still used and if so – by whom?

Picknicker (GC1RF1Y) was again an easy find, that would not have cost us much of our precious little time, would it not have been for the heavy rain; but at least there was plenty of shelter.

After the rain had died out, we continued our trip approaching Findlingsgarten und mehr (GC27V24). What should have been an easy find turned out in a longer search for the cache, and all because I had failed to feel it on my first scan of the most likely hiding places. We only got back to it after we ran out of other ideas.

Only a little later, we got to Schatz der Burg 2 (GC27V2N), where we had no trouble finding the cache, even tough I started looking on the wrong side of the wall, but that was easily remedied.

While the rain god seemed to have been otherwise occupied during our last two cache searches, he certainly remembered about us while we went for Teerofen Gross Quassow (GC2FP4D), fortunate for us this cache had a build-in shelter which we appreciated until the rain again faded away.

By the time we arrived at Zierker See-Franzosensteg (GC1HXCP), we had stopped to care about the rain at all and sent out rather relaxed and in a good mood to search for the cache. We found the Franzosensteg quite interesting and worth to see, though a bit slippery at this weather conditions, and too many uninvited little nasty visitors, who were seeking after our blood.

One last little series before heading for our hotel: Schlosskoppel #1 – “Borkenhaus” (GC2GN86), Schlosskoppel #2 – “Das Denkmal” (GC2GR6G) and Schlosskoppel #3 – “Kleines Borkenhaus” (GC2GR5C). This was a nice tour around the park. At #2, it was raining so hard that we did not dare to fumble the logbook out of the container. At #1 and #3, the surroundings offered enough shelter to log dryly. at #3, we were impressed by the neat container and first did not dare to touch it.

After having settled in at the hotel, a nice hot shower and a surprisingly excellent dinner in the hotel’s restaurant, we set out again (can’t stop even when it is raining, seem to be addicted seriously) to find Netto und Brutto (GC2GAJ3) and have a glimpse on Symbiose (GC2ABJQ). Regarding the latter, we spotted the container immediately, but decided to come back for it in lighter conditions (the sun had set some time ago).
